Vertex Science Leaders Scholarship Application

In 2013, Vertex created the Vertex Science Leaders Scholarship to assist high school students in their pursuit of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) higher education studies. The Scholarship is a four-year, need, and merit-based scholarship and covers tuition and fees, room and board, and books. Scholarship recipients will participate in an internship with Vertex during the summer after their first year of college. Participation in the Bottom Line Program is a requirement of this scholarship once enrolled in college.

To be eligible for the Vertex Science Leaders Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

Be a graduate of a Vertex partner high school.
File a FAFSA form, if eligible, and demonstrate financial need.
Have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0.
Be interested in pursuing STEM studies and careers.
Be a permanent resident or citizen of the United States.

To apply, complete this form and submit the following documents:

500-750 word personal statement
One (1) Letter of recommendation (May include letters from teachers, guidance counselors, coaches, employers, etc.)

Completed applications must be submitted by March 1, 2024.

As an applicant of the Vertex Science Leaders Scholarship, you are required to submit a personal statement. The statement is your opportunity to introduce yourself to the scholarship committee and should include (1) what you think have been your significant personal experiences beyond what may be reflected in your academic transcripts (i.e., personal characteristics, leadership experience you have had in any area of your life: school, work, athletics, family, volunteering, community, obstacles you have overcome, or other relevant information), and (2) your personal and career ambitions goals as they related to your interest in a degree in a STEM field.
Requirements:
- The essay must be typed.
- The essay should be 500-750 words in length.
- Each page should be numbered and include Student Name and Student ID # in the Header/Footer.
